Best shirt of the whole tour
Donnerstag, 14. Mai 2009Once in a while I get a job as a stage hand. This usually involves setting up the sound and lights for some of the world’s most famous bands. On May 12th I was able to support Metallica in Hamburg. I was assigned to the riggers as ground support. During set up I noticed a crew member with an FDNY pullover. During a break I asked him if he was a fire fighter. He told me that he had received the sweatshirt as a present from a friend who was at the New York fire department. He questioned me why I was interested and so I told him that I was a volunteer fire fighter.
After the show was over everyone went back to work to empty the ColorLine Arena. Everyone wearing a different color. During detachment of the stage and equipment the local crew usually gets a t-shirt showing which part of the technical crew they are assigned to. Some of the different crafts are stage, lights, sound, rigging, video e.g.
In between “Mr. FDNY” steps up to me and says: “Remind me. I’ve got something for you.” Later on he shows up and hands me an FDNY t-shirt. Did I miss something? Is it Christmas already? Wow! Great!
I have to say. I recieved the coolest shirt of them all that day.
Thanks Albert. You really made my day!
